Michael Alesch
Michael Alesch, 52, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Sioux City and Alton, Iowa, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at a St. Petersburg, Fla. hospital from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, Feb. 7.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa, with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Michael was an organ donor and burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
Mr. Alesch was born Dec. 31, 1951, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Laurence and Valeria (Arens) Alesch. He was raised in the Alton area and received his education in the Spalding School system, graduating in 1970. He then served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany.
After his discharge, he moved to Sioux City, where he was employed with U.P.S. for 20 years. He then moved to Bradenton, Fla., where he was employed for the last 10 years with Home Depot.
Survivors include three brothers and their wives, Bob and Diane of Alton, Dick and Pam of Marietta, Ga., and Tom and Colleen of Denison, Iowa; two sisters, Mary Schmidt of Des Moines and Kathy Alesch Baker and her husband, Joseph of Naples, Fla.; 10 nieces; a nephew; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; two sisters, Alice as a child and his twin sister, Patricia.
