Evalyn M. Hoyt

LeMARS, Iowa – Evalyn M. Hoyt, 74, of LeMars died Monday at a Rochester, Minn. Hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in LeMars with the Rev. Gordon Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in LeMars. Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. today at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mrs. Hoyt, the former Evalyn Clagg, was born June 6, 1913, in LeMars. She graduated from high school in LeMars and from Westmar College and attended the Moody Bible Institute. She taught school in Merrill.

She married James H. Hoyt Aug. 22, 1944, in LeMars. The couple farmed in Union Township until retiring in 1979 and moving into LeMars. Mr. Hoyt died in 1983.

She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include many nieces and nephews and cousins.
