Lavonne Thompson
Lavonne Thompson, 77, South Sioux City, a sister-in-law of Mrs. Frank (Laura) Lauters, LeMars, died Sunday (Nov. 25, 1984) at St. Paul after suffering a stroke at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Cochran.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Unitarian Church, Sioux City, with Rev. Jay Akinson officiating. Burial will be in Merrill Hillside Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson was the former Lavonne Tooker, of Merrill. She was born Jan. 16, 1907, in Missouri. She married Worth T. Thompson who preceded her in death. She taught in rural and later in city schools in the area. She was active in music during her retirement with the Golden Age Orchestra Group in Sioux City.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce Meyer of Duluth, Minn., and Joseph Meyer of Rogers, Ark., and four daughters, Carolyn Cochrane of St. Paul; Nola Gantt, Downey, Calif.; Sara Corbin of Stanwood, Iowa; and Joan Meyer of Finlayson, Minn.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Meyer.
