Thursday, June 9, 2005Theda Ruth Olson, 74, of Seney, died Monday, June 6, 2005, at her home.
Theda Ruth Weicht was born March 19, 1931, at Harrisburg, Pa., the daughter of Merle and Ruth (Carney) Weicht. Theda was raised in the Marcus area and graduated from Marcus High School. Following high school, Theda worked for Aalfs Manufacturing in Le Mars. Theda was united in marriage to Calmer Olson on March 15, 1952 at Seney.
Theda had also worked for Harker's and later Super 8 in Le Mars.
She enjoyed the opportunity to help care for her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. She truly enjoyed caring for her family. She also had enjoyed going fishing and bowling. When her children were younger, Theda played softball and coached her children's softball teams. Theda enjoyed her home and was known as a meticulous housekeeper.
Survivors include her four children, Beverly and her husband, Rick Erickson of Las Vegas, Nev., Rhonda and her husband Dan Beach of Le Mars, Kevin Olson of Le Mars, and Lori and her husband, Tony Schuver of Granville; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Darrel and Dovie Weicht of Kelso, Wash., Harry and Carol Weicht of Mineral Point, Wis., Maurice and Joyce Weicht of Ralston, Neb., and David and Ann Weicht of Brookings, S.D.; a sister, Karen Greene of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Ruth (Carney) Weicht; her husband, Calmer on Feb. 23, 2003; two grandchildren, Brett Olson and Morgan Schuver; four brothers, Veryle, Marvin, Lyle, and Delmar Weicht; and a sister, Velma Jones.
Private family funeral services will be held and interment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. The Carlsen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
