Mrs. Mary Alice Obermire

Mrs. Mary Alice Obermire, 92, LeMars native and lifelong resident, died unexpectedly Tuesday (Nov. 22, 1988) at her home.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church with Msgr. Michael Sernett officiating. Burial will be in LeMars Calvary Cemetery under direction of the Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the rosary at 4 p.m. by the altar-rosary society and the parish rosary at 8 p.m.

The former Alice Levins was born Oct. 6, 1896, in LeMars to Frank and Delia Boyle Levins. She was raised in LeMars and attended LeMars Central High School. She married J. H. (Harvey) Obermire Nov. 24, 1920, in LeMars. They farmed for many years near LeMars and moved into LeMars in 1957. Mr. Obermire died in 1967.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the altar society.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Vincent (Betty) Deiterman, LeMars; Mrs. Joseph (Rosemary) Carney, Longmont, Colo., and Mary Lucille Obermire of LeMars; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a sister, Marie Levins of LeMars; a brother, Charles Levins and his wife, Roseann, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Matt (Lois) Levins, all of LeMars.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Robert H. and Joseph, and four brothers, Matt, Frank, Art and Harold Levins, and a sister, Jennie Levins.
