Mrs. Alma Sanford

Mrs. Alma Sanford, 89, of LeMars, died Tuesday (Oct. 20, 1981) in a LeMars hospital.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Mauer funeral home. Rev. James Ransom will officiate. Burial will be in the LeMars Memorial cemetery.

Mrs. Sanford, the former Alma Gaston, was born April 30, 1892, to O. R. and Ella Morehead Gaston, in rural LeMars near Adaville.

She married Jack Sanford Jan. 15, 1917, in Sioux City. He died many years ago.

She taught in rural LeMars schools and was in women’s retail clothing in Sioux City and South Sioux City. She returned to LeMars in the early 1970’s.

She was active in the Order of Eastern Star in South Sioux City and was a 61 year member in 1973. She was a Presbyterian.

Survivors are one nephew, Robert Perry of Glendale, Calif., and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Rena Perry.
