Con Kohl, Longtime Resident, Died In Iowa City Friday
Conrad T. Kohl, long time resident of Plymouth county, died Friday at a hospital where he had been a patient for several years.
Mr. Kohl was born in Woodford county, Ill., April 14, 1880, and came to this county with his parents 67 years ago. He was married March 7, 1906, to Gertrude Werth, who died in July, 1939, five years after they had retired and moved to LeMars.
Survivors include a daughter, Miss Irene Kohl, Oakland, Calif., and four sisters, Mrs. George Steele, Mrs. R. S. Eyres and Mrs. A. E. Eyres, all of LeMars, and Mrs. James Oswald, Cleghorn, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Mauer Funeral Home. Rev. G. O. Thompson officiated. Burial was in the LeMars city cemetery.
~Researcher Note: The 1900 Federal Census confirms that the birth mo/yr for Conrad T. Kohl was April 1881. The obituary above gives a wrong birth year. The birth year on his tombstone does say 1881. Per this obituary he died on Friday, April 15, 1949.
