THELMA BURMEISTER

Thelma G. Burmeister, 96, died April 17, 2006, at the Lake District Long-Term Care Facility in Lakeview [Oregon.]

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church in Bend. Interment will follow at the family plot at Pilot Butte Cemetery in Bend. Ousley Osterman Huffstutter Funeral Chapel, Lakeview is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burmeister was born Sept. 3, 1909, in Hinton, Iowa, to Sylvester M. and Cecil G. (Bolin) Lynam.

She was raised and educated in Lawton, Iowa, where she graduated from high school.

On April 3, 1929, she married Clarence Burmeister in Sioux City, Iowa.

They lived on a farm in Woodbury County, Iowa, before moving to Central Oregon in 1938.

Mrs. Burmeister was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bend for more than 50 years and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution.

She enjoyed visiting the elderly in nursing homes, knitting hats and mittens for children, and fishing and hunting with her husband.

She was an accomplished cook.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Bender of Lakeview; son Ardel Burmeister of Sublimity; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and sister Dorothy Willer, of Santa Maria, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband on April 6, 1996; grandsons Jeffrey Stowe and Wesley Whitaker; and 11 siblings.

Memorial donations may be made to Boy Scouts of America, 1819 Manzanita St., Klamath Falls, OR 97601, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
