CRAIG CHURCH IS SCENE OF DECEMBER WEDDING
The wedding of Miss Wanda Mae Gabel and Wendell J. Oltmanns was solemnized on December 1, 1962, at 7:30 p. m., at St. John’s Lutheran church, Craig. Rev. Ervin B Schemmel performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with white chrysanthemums and candelabra. Mrs. Glen Gabel was the organist and Mrs. Wendell Gronemeyer sang “O Perfect Love” and “Wedding Prayer.”
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gabel of Akron and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Oltmanns of LeMars.
Given in marriage by her father the bride entered the church gowned in satin with Sabrina neckline and basque bodice, detailed with alencon lace and with back fabric rose above chapel train. Her illusion veil fastened to a queen’s crown of pearls and crystals. She carried a cascade arrangement of white chrysanthemums.
Jeannette Oltmanns, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. Bridesmaid was Mrs. Stanley Willer, cousin of the bride. They wore royal blue satin dresses with matching halo veils and carried cascade of white chrysanthemums accented with blue.
Merlyn Oltmanns, brother of the bridegroom, was bestman, and Leon Gabel, cousin of the bride, was groomsman.
Debbie Gabel, sister of the bride, and Carol Borchers, friend of the bride, were flowergirls. Ushers were Wendell Gronemeyer, Bill Dreckman, Arlan Oltmanns and Cliff Koerselman.
A reception for 250 guests was held in the church parlors following the ceremony. The white wedding cake was decorated with sugar bells and accented in blue.
The bride’s mother wore a beige dress and the bridegroom’s mother wore a blue dress. Both added corsages of red and white pompoms.
The bride, a graduate of Akron high school is employed at the Ia. Public Service Co. in LeMars.
The bridegroom is a graduate of LeMars high school and is engaged in farming.
