Former LeMars Girl is Wed to Kenneth Hassebrock In Des MoinesAt a pretty candlelight ceremony at the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church in Des Moines on July 20th at 3 p.m., Miss Mildred Helene Brabander, daughter of John G. Brabander of Los Angeles, Calif., became the bide of Kenneth L. Hassebrock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hassebrock of Manley, Iowa. Rev. W. G. Hassebrock, brother of the groom, performed the double ring ceremony. The church was decorated with fresh garden flowers and candelabra.
The couple entered the church to the strains of Lohengrin’s wedding march, which was played by Mrs. W. G. Hassebrock.
The couple was attended by Miss Anna Marie Hassebrock, sister of the groom, and Ervin Ommen, a friend of the couple.
The bride was attired in a lovely swallowtail suit of white wool crepe with blue accessories. Her corsage was of pink roses and orange blossoms.
The maid of honor wore a gray suit with pink accessories. Her corsage was of talisman roses and orange blossoms.
The groom and best man wore conventional dark suits with white carnation boutonnieres.
The groom’s mother looked lovely in gray, with a corsage of pink carnations.
The ushers, Russell Petitt and Carrol Skiles, were also attired in business suits. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Carrol Skiles, sister of the groom, sang “Because” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
The bride was given in marriage by her cousin, Melvin Siebels.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church parlors for about 60 friends and relatives. The table was prettily decorated in the bride’s colors of blue, pink and white. The three-tier wedding cake was baked by the groom’s mother. The hostesses were Mrs. Russell Petitt and Mrs. Melvin Siebels.
The newlyweds are spending their honeymoon in the Black Hills and Winnipeg, Canada, after which they will be t home at 207 Stanton Ave, Ames, Iowa, where the groom is attending Iowa State College.
Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Petitt and Denis of North Hollywood, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brabander and daughter, Marian, and Lyle Pratt of LeMars, Iowa.
The bride is a former resident of LeMars and the groom attended Western Union College before entering the service.
