Violet Muecke is care center resident of month
Viola Muecke is resident of the month for April at the Akron City Convalescent Care Center. She was born Nov. 26, 1902, to C. Henry and Viola Peters, on a farm near Marcus. She was one of nine children and still has a brother, Ralph Peters from Hiettlesberg and a sister, Laura Dierckson of Le Mars. She had four brothers, Richard, Henry, John and Herman, and two sisters, Olive Sanow and Louise Cox, all deceased.
When Viola was a child her family moved to a farm near Hinton, where they lived near a family named Muecke. She began dating Oswald Muecke, and they were married Oct. 1,1924.
They farmed in the Hinton area all their lives. They had two children, Irene (Mrs. George) Ludwigs, LeMars, and Elmer Muecke, Sheldon, viola has six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. - Viola was a hard working housewife, enjoyed gardening, canning, raising chickens and baking homemade bread and jam. She also loved to make quilts, embroider, crochet and tat.
She and her husband retired from farming around 1952 and moved into Hinton, where they became active in the Senior Citizens Center, the Legion Auxiliary and their church. Oswald died in November 1979. Viola lived along until 1983, when she entered the Akron nursing home.
