Krekow, Charles & Augusta - 40th Wedding Anniversary 1923

Remsen News from the Bell Enterprise: Relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Krekow who live on South Main street, happily surprised that worthy couple at their home Tuesday, February 27, the occasion of their fortieth wedding anniversary.

COUPLE MARRIED FORTY YEARS. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Krekow Celebrate Anniversary Today. Remsen Bell-Enterprise: Relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Krekow, who live on South Main street, happily suprised that worthy couple at their home Tuesday, Feb. 2, the occasion of their fortieth wedding annivesary.
There were twenty-three guests, who brought with them baskets containing necessaries for an elaborate dinner, which the ladies prepared and served. A beautiful centerpiece, consisting of a hugh bouquet of red and white carnations, adorned the table. Rev. A. Noack, pastor of Christ Lutheran church of which Mr. and Mrs. Krekow are members, gave a short address of congrtulation just before the guests took their places at the table, and on behalf of the visitors presented the honored couple with a beautiful wedding gift.
Those present at this happy affair were: Mr. and Mrs. Detlef Lindemann, Mrs. Otto NItzschke, George Scott, Rev. A. Noack of Remsen; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Geister of Primghar; and Mr. and Mrs. R. Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Krekow, and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Brandt of Marcus. Two of the guests attended the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Krekow forty years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Krekow were united in marriage February 27, 1883, at the home of Mrs. Krekow's parents, south of Cherokee by Rev. Zeuer. Mrs. Krekow before her marriage, was Augusta Geister. The couple resided on a farm south of Marcus for thirty-six years, retiring four years ago to make their home in Remsen. - Le Mars Globe-Post, March 5, 1923, page 1, column 2.
