WIDE TERRITORY
URIAH KENISTON, OF AKRON,
CELEBRATES HIS NINETY-THIRD
BIRTHDAY WEDNESDAY

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. W. Keniston went to Akron Wednesday afternoon to assist his father, Uriah B. Keniston is a veteran of the Civil War and was one of the earliest homesteaders in Plymouth county. He settled on a homestead, a few miles north of LeMars, in 1867 and is undoubtedly the oldest of the original homesteaders of Plymouth county still living according to the Hawarden Independent. At that times the county seat of Plymouth county was Melbourne and LeMars was not founded until a year or two later.

Mr. Keniston makes his home with his daughter, Mrs. Charles Allen at Akron. He still enjoys fairly good health and while he is quite deaf his eyesight remains keen and he spends the greatest part of his time reading. For a good many years he made his home with his son here in Hawarden and has many friends who extend congratulations.
