Mr. and Mrs. Mike Schmitz of 835 1st St. S.E. in LeMars are shown in a photo by Naef, the occasion being the Golden Wedding anniversary.

The couple began the day on February 9, 1959, with a high mass celebrated by Msgr. J. D. Fisch at 10 a.m. A family dinner followed at the Club Debonair. All of their children and families were present at the anniversary celebration. Relatives and friends from Howard, South Dakota and Currie, Minnesota were also present.

Mary Wagoner of Bellvue, Iowa, and Mike Schmitz were united in marriage at St. Catherine’s church, in Oyens, on February 17, 1909, by the late Father Rolfes. They lived the first years of their married life in America township, then they lived in Dakota and Minnesota until ten years ago when they moved to their present home in LeMars.

The couple have nine children who are: Herman, Leo, Lawrence, Mrs. George Andert (Luella); Norbert, Mrs. Joe Hoffman (Clara) of Currie, Minnesota;

Mrs. Vick Seive (Delores) of Wilmont, Minnesota; Mrs. Vince (Audrey) Puhl of Hawarden; Gordon of LeMars. There are 32 grandchildren and one great grandchild and all were present on February 9.
