~Note: No idea as to why the burial in LeMars was nearly a month later? On 12 May 1882 Charles DeJong died--these two children were siblings. Both of them were buried on 10 Jun 1882.

Peter O. de Jong, formerly of our town but now of Lemars, lost his two
little children last week, by the dread disease diphtheria which is now
raging in Lemars. Peter and his wife have also been confined to their beds
by this disease, but are now convalescing.
