From the Le Mars Sentinel, August 26, 1897, Page 3, Column 2:
A large number of Le Mars People were out at the home of Henry Detloff Tuesday to assist him and his estimable wife in celebrating their silver wedding. It was their silver wedding. It was twenty-five years ago Tuesday Mr. Detloff married Paulina Pech at Bloomington, Illinois. They came to Iowa and settled in Elgin Township, Plymouth county about twenty years ago. From the small amount of property which he brought with him, Mr Detloff by hard work and careful management has amassed a fine fortune and now owns over a section of land worth fifty dollars an acre, besides stock and complete farm equipment.
That shows what a man can do at farming in Iowa.
A fine dinner was spread at one o'clock and the afternoon was pleasantly spent.
(Note--Henry & Paulina were married 24 Aug 1872.)
