Susan L. (Cribb) Wilson was born Feb.09,1819 in Prattsburg, Steuben Co. New York to Henry and Charety (Lent) Cribb. Susan was the oldest of ten children. By 1830 her family moved to South Bristol, Ontario County, N.Y. On Jan.19,1841 Susan married Joseph George Wilson, son of Joseph and Sallie Wilson.
Susan and Joseph and their son George moved to Greenwood McHenry Co. Ill. in the fall of 1845. Here they rented land to farm. They had three more children here, Francis, Sarah and Dewitt. But by the beginning of 1852 they moved to Dubuque Co. Iowa. Susan gave birth to another son Adelbert. In the middle of 1852 Joseph founded the town Farley, Dubuque Co. Iowa. They had the first church servises in their home. Had the first post office in their home too. Joseph became the best eye doctor around. They had the first child in Farley who was called Mary. Then two other children followed, Stephen and Emily.
By 1881 the family moved to Sioux Fall, Minnehaha Co. South Dakota. By July 1881 Joseph died was buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in that city. Susan moved to be closer to her children in Westfield, Plymouth Co, Iowa. She continued to help people with their eye problems. She died Nov. 25,1904 in Westfield. And was laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Plymouth Co. Iowa.
