Lloyd J. McCombs, the son of Alfred and Leta (Young) McCombs was born March 5, 1934, on the family farm near Graettinger, Iowa. He died on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at his home in Ruthven, Iowa at the age of 87.

He received his education and graduated from Graettinger High School in 1952. He then attended one year of college at Dana in Blair, Nebraska. In 1953 he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1955.

On February 9, 1957, he was united in marriage to Lucille Schacherer in Estherville. The couple made their home and farmed for many years in Palo Alto County. For hobbies, Lloyd enjoyed fishing, reading, woodworking and his cattle.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Graettinger. He also served on the Hillcrest Board, Elevator Board, Graettinger Community Club and was a life-member of the VFW and American Legion.

Left to cherish Lloyd's memory are his wife, Lucy of Ruthven; children, Beth McCombs; Jean (Pete) Charboneau; Donald (Jan) McCombs; Mary (Jamie) Brosnahan; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.

He has been preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Kenneth (Helen) McCombs; Donald McCombs; and Richard (Margaret) McCombs.

A funeral service was held Monday, January 24, 2022 at the United Methodist church in Graettinger with interment at the Valley View Cemetery, Graettinger.
