Mrs Durant was very well known in this county. She was a resident here for about forty-five years. In her younger days she was active, earnest and energetic and a force for good in her community. She was one of the pioneers and adapted herself readily to the trials that go with pioneer life. She was devoted to her home and family. She never grew tired of accomplishing the tasks that fall to the lot of a wife and mother and found her greatest joy ministering unto them. When seventeen years of age she joined the Methodist church and remained a faithful member during the remainder of her life. She was a good woman, neighborly, charitable and kind. She was prone to see the good in others and to overlook their short comings. She was intelligent and exceptionally companionable. She did well the things that came in her way to do. She lived a good, long, useful life and through years of service she builded her own best monument. Her death is timely and though her departure brings grief and sorrow to the children who survive her, yet the call to a better world beyond is but natural. The Tribune extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved family, for the loss of a mother is a bereavement always.
