Mrs. John Nolan Dead.

On last Thursday, December 5th at the farm home on the shores of Medium Lake, occurred the death of Mrs. John Nolan.

The deceased was ailing for some time before her death. Her old age made it impossible for her to successfully combat the disease that had fastened upon her, and death came as a relief.

Miss Bridget Conway was born in Kilkenney, Ireland, in March 1823. In 1846 she came to America, settling in Canada, after which she moved to Chicago, where in 1854, she was married to John Nolan, and two years later they came to Palo Alto county, and together she and her husband settled on the farm which has ever since been their home.

John Nolan and his wife, Bridget, were among the very first settlers in this county, and together they experienced all the hardships and trials of frontier life, but by hard work and persistency they laid the foundation for a competency with which to make their lives easier and pleasanter in their old age. Mrs. Nolan was the mother of four sons, two of whom, P. V. and Charles, are still alive and residents of this place.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. M. J. Costello, from Assumption church, on Saturday at 10:00 o'clock a.m., and the remains laid to rest in St. John's cemetery.

Those who knew Mrs. Nolan pronounce her to be a woman loved and respected for her true christian graces and a woman who was strong in the faith of Christ, and one who lived as a true and consistent member of the Catholic church. Her husband and sons have the sympathy of all in this great loss which they have sustained in the death of wife and mother.
