Mrs. A J. Burt Dies Suddenly

Mrs. A. J. Burt, 80, wife of a prominent Emmetsburg attorney and longtime resident, died suddenly of a heart attack at her home this morning at five o'clock.

A nurse on duty at the home to care for Mr.[sic] Burt who has been ill with the flu left the room three minutes and when she returned found Mrs. Burt dead.

Mrs. Burt had up and around Monday. Although she had a cold she was not believed to be seriously ill. She appeared to be feeling well last night. The death came as a shock to many friends in the community.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Burt leaves a daughter, Mrs. James Rowley of Emmetsburg, and a sister who lives in Pella. She and Mr. Burt had been married nearly 60 years. She had lived here since about 1903.

Funeral plans were pending this morning at the Ellsworth -- Beiter funeral home. A complete obituary will be published later
