Catherine Hagarty was born in Limerick, Ireland, in 1881, and died March 3, 1919.

Came to Canada when a child of thirteen years.

Was married to John Neilson in 1860.

Eleven children, four girls and seven boys. Her husband and two sons, James and Fred, died in 1916 and one son died in infancy.

The living children are; Mrs. Bell Timmins, of Prairie City, Mrs. Anne Carson, of Melcher, Mrs. Maggie Van Maren of Runnells, John, of Canada, William, of Slayton, Minnesota, Robert and Frank, of Greattinger. She came with her husband and family from Canada in 1885 to Prairie City.

She lived here for twenty four years, then went to northern Iowa, where she has since resided, at Greattinger.
