LOOKING BACK
As taken from the files of the Reporter, January 1943

-- Mrs. Nellie O'Brien and sons Donald and Francis, and Bill Neary drove to Fort Dodge December 26. Francis took a train from there for New Orleans, Louisiana, where he is stationed in the Navy. He spent a furlough of several days visiting his mother and other relatives in Emmetsburg
-- Misses Helen Joynt and Mary de Sales Critz, student nurses at St. Joseph's Hospital in Sioux City spent Christmas at their parental home here.
-- Mr. and Mrs. Francis (Sass) McNally and family were Christmas dinner guests at the home of Mrs. McNally's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Devine of Algona. Mr. McNally returned to Emmetsburg the following morning and Mrs. McNally and children remained until Sunday.
-- The Reverend James Duhigg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Duhigg Sr. of Emmetsburg was appointed pastor of Sacred Heart Church at Livermore effective January 1, by Bishop Heeland of Sioux City. He has been acting pastor of the parish the last two and one half years.
