JAMES O’CONNOR FAMILY

James O’Connor was born in Rahaney, Ireland. He came to the United States in the late 1850s or early 1860s and settled in Lockport, Illinois. He married Mary Clarcy. They came to the Graettinger area in 1871 and homesteaded south of town.

They became the parents of seven children. Vestie, who lived in Graettinger, was postmaster. Agnes and Martha became Dominican Sisters and visited Graettinger many times. Anna married George Truesdale and they farmed in the Wallingford area. Later they moved to Arizona. Philip and Michael lived in the western United States. Margaret married Sydney Cooke and lived in Nebraska.

There were two grandchildren, daughters of Michael and Rosena, and seven great-grandchildren.
