Mrs. Gillespie Died July 6

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Gillespie died July 6, 1945, 4 a.m. of a heart attack at her home in West township. She had been ailing for some time, but the attack was sudden and unexpected.

She was born May 18, 1866, at Mount Carroll, Illinois. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Margaret Palmer) Gillespie.

She was married October 10, 1889 at Red Oak, to Samuel D. Gillespie, who died at his home in West township, July 9, 1918.

Mrs. Gillespie and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Eva Gillespie lived together on the farm in West township for 26 years. One son survives, Frank H. Gillespie, Red Oak.

There are eight grandchildren, and four of these boys are in service: Lt. John D. Gillespie, Fort Benning, Ga., Sgt. Kenneth Gillespie, Seaside, Oregon, Staff Sergeant Charles Gillespie, and Corp. Frank G. Gillespie, Jr. The last two named were prisoners of war in Germany, and are home on recuperation period.

Deceased children, Bernard, died Dec. 18, 1919, at home in West township, and two boys who died in infancy.

Near relatives surviving are two sisters, Mrs H.L. McIntyre, Omaha, Miss Mattie Gillespie, Red Oak.

Mrs. Gillespie came here in a covered wagon with her parents, at the age of four, and lived in Montgomery County, excepting from 1871 to 1910 during which time she lived near Essex, Page County.

She was a member of the Evangelical Church, Red Oak.

Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical Church, Tuesday, July 10, 2:30 p.m., Rev. G.H. Hulsebus will be in charge.

Pallbearers will be Elmer Rost, Frank Perkins, Gemmel Brown, Samuel Charles, George Johnson, C.C. Coates, Essex.

Musicians, a quartette, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Giles. Mrs J.M. McGreer, M.B. Harris, Miss Neola Rost, pianist.

Floral committee, Mrs. Fred W. Lampe, Mrs. Samuel Charles, Mrs. Albin Peterson, Miss Eva Miles.

Ushers, Arthur Sungren, Albin Peterson.

Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Perryman service.
