RITES AT MELVIN FOR GERRIT* FRANSEN
Garrett* Fransen, Melvin, died Sunday, March 20, in the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.
Funeral services will be this Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Melvin Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Glenn Woodrick officiating. Walton Funeral Home is in charge.
He was born Sept. 23, 1898* at Sioux Center, Iowa, the son of D.J. Fransen and Wilhelmina (Van Roeckel) Fransen. He spent his childhood days at Sioux Center.
He was married to Esther Fink, Feb. 22, 1924 at Melvin. He spent most of his adulthood in Sibley and the remainder of his life in Melvin.
He is survived by two brothers: Abe and George of Sibley, also seven sisters: (Nancy) Mrs. Herman Book* of Sheldon, (Elizabeth) Mrs. Henry DeBoer of Seattle, Wash., (Minnie) Mrs. Hugh Hankins, Sibley, Johanna) Mrs. Glen Nagle* of Lake Benton, Minn., (Dara) Mrs. Ted Wollmuth, Rock Rapids, Jeanette (Mrs. John Vogt) of Holland, Minn.
Also many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, father and mother, three brothers and one sister.

*Transcriber's Notes* Find A Grave spells Mr. Fransen's first name as Garret and his year of birth as 1897. He is buried in Baker Cemetery at Melvin. The obituary for Dirk Fransen from The Sibley Gazette in the year 1949, and Find A Grave spells Johanna's last name Dagel and Nancy's as Rook.
