Former Ocheyedan Woman Dies Jan.6

Mrs. Charles Nicola Moved to Brandt, S.D., in 1923

Following a long illness Mrs. Charles Nicola, 39, died Sunday of last week in the family home at Brandt, S.D. Services were held Wednesday of last week.

Born in Austria, she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Haiker, to locate at Sibley in May of 1898. She grew to womanhood in the Melvin and Ocheyedan communities.

On Dec. 24, 1923, she married Charles Nicola with the couple moving to Brandt, S.D., to make the home. In the immediate family are the husband and two daughters, aged nine and three years.

Other near relatives include: the parents of Clear Lake, S.D., and nine brothers and sisters, Mrs. Arthur Nicola of Harris, Wilma and Alvera of Chicago, Albert and Herman of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Hugo Strochscheim, Helen, George and Hilda, all of Clear Lake.

~Transcriber's Note: Find a Grave records indicate Anna (Haiker) Nicola was the daughter of Anna (Breckle) Haiker and is interred at Lakeview Cemetery in Clear Lake, South Dakota.
