Mina Caroline (Jacobs) Rieman was born on October 30, 1875, near Argyle, Wisc., and passed away at a Valley City, N.D. hospital Friday, September 5, at 6:15 p.m. at the age of 65 years. The remains were taken to Aberdeen, Wash., where she was buried beside her husband, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rieman came to Osceola county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Mary Everson) Jacobs, when she was about two years old, coming here in a covered wagon. They settled on a farm near Ashton, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. She attended the public schools at Ashton and was later married there on January 24, 1897, to Matthew Rieman. The family later moved to Melvin, where they lived for several years before moving to Washington. To this union six children were born, namely: Mrs. Mary Stevens of Jamestown, N.D.; Mrs. Josephine Snyder, Leo Rieman and Sylvester John Rieman, all of Aberdeen, Wash.; Cecilia Hansen and Grace Flurey, of Republic, Wash.
She leaves to mourn besides her six children, her aged mother, Mrs. Mary Jacobs of Melvin; four brothers, Earl Jacobs of Allendorf, Ed Jacobs of Canton, S.D., George Jacobs of Worthington, Minn., and Henry Jacobs of Melvin; three sisters: Mrs. J.H. Graves of Ocheyedan, Mrs. Emil Dass of Alden and Mrs. Fred Graves of Melvin, besides eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
For the past three years Mrs. Rieman was in Melvin caring for her aged mother, Mrs.Jacobs. She was returning to her home at Aberdeen about two weeks ago when she was seriously injured in a car accident from which she never recovered.
