Funeral services for Viva L. Graves, 83, of Melvin, were held Sept. 8, at the United Methodist Church of Melvin with Rev. Sylvia Kennedy officiating. Interment was at Baker Township Cemetery, Melvin. Arrangements were under the direction of Sanborn Funeral Home, Sanborn.

Viva Lois (Suhn) Graves, the daughter of Peter and Eunice (Edenburn) Suhn, was born at Ree Heights, SD, on Oct. 18, 1916. She lived her youth at Ree Heights and graduated from the Ree Heights High School.

Lois married Gerald Graves on May 31, 1938, at Watertown, SD. They have resided in the Melvin community during their married lifetime where Gerald owned and operated a farm drainage business and later he was engaged in farming for several years. Lois died at the Osceola Community Hospital at Sibley on Sept. 6.

Lois is survived by her children, Jay and Mary Graves of Phoenix, AZ; and Toni and David Peters of Golden Valley, MN; her son-in-law, Philip Stimson of Storm Lake; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Karen; and two sisters, Cally and Helen.
