She taught school briefly and assisted her father in his business until her marriage.

On April 14, 1937, Charlotte married Pierce LeRoy Hibma and was his faithful and loving help mate for 55 years until his death on May 18, 1992.

The couple lived on a farm south of Harris, Iowa until 1989 when they moved to Ocheyedan.

Charlotte lived there until May 2007 when she moved to Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa.

She passed on her love of music to her children, giving them piano lessons and encouraging them in their varied interests.

She was proud of her family and without the aid of a date book her sharp mind remembered each birthday.

Homemade quilts and crocheted afghans were gifts that marked various milestones in the lives of her grandchildren.

As the last of the children became adults, Charlotte became part of the Keeping Up Club of Harris, and enjoyed reading and playing the piano. She faithfully attended the church and school activities of her grandchildren and as they scattered around the globe she followed their adventures in her frequently used world atlas.

Pierce and Charlotte were active members of First Presbyterian Church of Sibley and the Gideon organization.

Each year Charlotte read through her Bible and prayed daily for her family. Her positive attitude was reflected in a favorite verse: Trust the Lord and sincerely worship Him. Think of all the tremendous things He has done for you. 1 Samuel 12:24.

Charlotte leaves to cherish her memory ten children and their spouses, thirty-three grandchildren, twenty of whom are married, forty-two great grandchildren, four of whom are married and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierce, her parents, her sister, Neva De Groot and a grandson Ivan Peters.
