Hartley Funeral ChapelLloyd Burdette Woltersdorf, the son of Walter H. and Delia (Wills) Woltersdorf, was born on June 14, 1918 in Harrison Township, Osceola County, Iowa. He attended country school through the eighth grade.
Lloyd served in the Army from February 6, 1942 until October 1, 1945. He served in the China, Burma, and India theater. He was a member of the American Legion for over 60 years, having served many of those years on the firing squad.
Lloyd was a farmer all his life. His pride and joy was in owning and raising Aberdeen Angus Cattle.
Since 2005, Lloyd had been a resident of the Milford Nursing Home in Milford, Iowa. In May of 2008, visitors came from Everly to the nursing home on tractors. Lloyd’s nephew, Kelly, restored his 1948 Model A John Deere and stopped by to show him—Lloyd was so pleased to see his old tractor on the road again!
Lloyd passed away at the Spencer Municipal Hospital on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the age of 90.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lester; one sister Darlene Berends; two nephews, Dennis Berends and Keith Jessen; and his brother-in-law, Donal (Jim) Jessen.
Survivors include one sister, Opal Jessen of Everly, IA; his nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Lloyd will be missed by all who knew him and the smile he had for everyone.
