Thomas E. Wiechert the son of Edwin and Ida “Billie” (Sanneman) Wiechert was born on December 11, 1953 in Sheldon, IA. He grew up in the Melvin, IA area and graduated from Melvin High School in 1972. After high school Tom attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, IA. In 1992 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, SD. Tom completed the Custom Golf Training School in Austin, TX in 1988.
He spent time working for APAC in Spencer, IA and worked as a counselor for Compass Pointe in Hull, IA. Tom passed away at his home in Melvin, IA on February 5, 2012 at the age of 58.
Tom was a member of the American Lutheran Church of Melvin, IA. Tom had a passion for sports. He loved to play golf and was well known as the “Club Doctor” for making golf clubs. He was an avid football fan and a die hard New York Yankees baseball fan. Tom enjoyed cooking and understood the fine art of grilling a steak. He took great pride in participating in the lives of his nieces, nephews and the Wetrich children.
He is survived by his two sisters: Linda Sue Gonnerman and her husband, Ron, of Liberty, MO, Patricia Joan Rubio of San Antonio, TX; five nieces and nephews: Rebecca Gonnerman, Debra Overton, Todd Gonnerman, Marcus Rubio, Nicholas Rubio; and special friend Danae Wetrich and her family.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents Ernest “Jim” and Sophie Wiechert and maternal grandparents Alois and Bess Sanneman.Celebrating the life of
