William De Boer, age 90, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 24, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley. Rev. Roger Bouwman officiating.

Burial in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Visitation will be Friday, July 23, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.

William De Boer was born on February 2, 1920, near Sanborn, Iowa. He was the son of Charles and Maggie (Elgersma) De Boer.

He lived his youth near Sanborn, Iowa, and later moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa. He was baptized in the Sanborn Christian Reformed Church and made profession of his faith in the Rock Rapids Christian Reformed Church. He attended the Sanborn Christian Grade School and Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Nelva Gertrude Strootman of Prinsburg, Minnesota, on March 22, 1937, in Rock Rapids, Iowa. They lived in Rock Rapids until 1938, when they moved to Sibley, Iowa.

Bill was a door-to-door salesman for Watkins Products for many years in the surrounding Sibley area, retiring in 1971. Bill and Nelva were custodians for the Sibley Christian Reformed Church for 39 years. Bill moved to the Sibley Nursing and Rehab in 2003. Bill was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley, where he served in the consistory. He served on many boards, including, Sibley Christian Grade School, Hull Western Christian High School and assisted in planning and organizing Dordt College. He loved to fish with his family and attend his grandchildren’s activities. He also enjoyed singing and music was very important to him.
Bill passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 73 years: Nelva De Boer of Sibley, IA; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jan and Connie De Boer of Sibley, IA, Willis and Linda De Boer of Spirit Lake, IA; one daughter and son-in-law: Glenda and Larry Reinke of Spirit Lake, IA; daughter-in-law: Esther De Boer of Sanborn, IA; eleven grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Berdella De Boer of Hills, MN.

He was preceded in death by his son: Charles De Boer (December of 1999); his parents; one brother: Frank De Boer; sister: Geneva (Ralph) Weerheim.
