John C. Fry Family

John C. Fry, son of John Fry Sr. and Alice Graham Fry, married Mathilda (Tillie) M. Hass on June 26, 1915. He managed a pool hall in Harris, was a mechanic in Harvey James Garage and a farmer.

John C. Fry’s home was located where the Golden Years Apartments were built. The yard was large enough that when the carnival came to town they always put the merry-go-round in their yard. One of the memories of the Fry children and friends is going down to the railroad tracks to see the train and wave at the engineers. When dances were held at the Odd Fellows Hall, John C. Fry was the caller of the square dances.

John and Tillie lived in the Harris community until 1954, when they moved to Spencer, Iowa. In 1956, they moved to El Monte, California.

John C. Fry was born October 23, 1884, and died September 11, 1957. Tillie Fry was born October 4, 1893, and lives with her daughter Blanche Geronsin in El Monte, California. Another daughter, Mae, and Dick Hasbrouck live in Guthrie Center, Iowa, and son Chick and Patten (Pat) Fry live in Lompoc, California.

The three Fry children, Mae, Blanche and Chick, graduated from Harris High School.
