Arthur August Kopp, the son of August and Elizabeth Litzel Kopp, was born April 12, 1915, in Grant Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. He received his education in country schools and later high school in Brewster, MN.

On June 23, 1939, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Carnahan in Canton, SD. After their marriage, the couple made their home near Primghar, IA, where he worked on a farm. Art was called into the service during WW II serving in France in the Army's 95th Division. He returned to O'Brien County where the couple moved to a farm near Sutherland, IA.

Art farmed and was employed at the Sutherland Co-Op Elevator. For 23 years, he was a substitute rural mail carrier and for the last three years before his retirement was a regular mail carrier in the Sutherland area. In 1985, the couple moved to Paullina.

He passed away on Monday, May 19, 1997, at the Orange City Hospital in Orange City, IA, reaching the age of 82 years, 1 month and 7 days.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina and the Russell West Post of the American Legion.

Art is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Paullina; one daughter and her husband, Janet and Ron Meyer of Paullina; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Kopp of Tucson, AZ and one sister, Mrs. Hazel Hayes of King City, OR; also a host of other relatives and friends
