Hugh Clair Farquharson, 65, of 3930 49th St. died of cancer Sunday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel United Methodist Church. The body has been cremated, and burial of the remains will be in Waterman Cemetery at Sutherland.
Born in Moneta, Mr. Farquharson had lived in Sutherland before moving to Des Moines in 1952. He retired last April as senior systems analyst for Iowa Farm Bureau where he worked for 33 years. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a volunteer worker at Living History Farms and a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, the Scottish Heritage Society, and the Des Moines Audubon Society.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce, a son, Lee of Des Moines; a daughter, Debra Farquharson of Des Moines; and two brothers, Gordon of West Union and Jim of Cupertino, Calif.
Memorial contributions may be made to Living History Farms.
