Mrs. R.H. Wolken Dies at age 77 -- Came to Paullina in 1886

Mrs. R.H. Wolken, 77, died Thursday morning at their farm home southwest of Paullina following a stroke which she suffered on March 6. She had been in comparatively good health until that time and had remained quite active. Only five months ago, she and Mr. Wolken celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary. They were married here on November 29, 1888.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Wolken home at 1:30 and at 2 o'clock at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. Rev. Martin Peterrs officiated. Burial followed at Prairie View Cemetery.

Helene Marie Uck was born March 11, 1872 at Kirchenholz in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the daughter of Detlef and Christine Uck. In 1886 she came with her parents to this country where they settled in Paullina.

On November 29, 1888 she was married to Rolf H. Wolken. To them were born one son and three daughters.

Death came to her Thursday, March 31, at the age of 77 years and 9 days.

Surviving Mrs. Wolken are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. W.R Ewoldt and Mrs. O.F. Long, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Henry Wolken, eight grandchildren and one great-granchild, and one sister, Mrs. J. N. Wiese of Omaha, Nebraska. One son and one daughter preceded her in death.

Among the relatives coming here for the services were PFC Franklin Long, Camp Lee, Va.; Herman Woken, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wolken, Mrs Dan Wolken, Mr. and Mrs. WIlbert Gummert, and Mrs. Fred Gummert and Robert, all of Marshalltown; Mrs. J.R. Dwyer, Omah; Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Claussen, Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. W.K.PRice, Onawa; Mrs. H.A. Vander Hamm and Glenn, Spencer, SD; Mrs. Theresa Goodmanson and Charles Ehlers, Ireton.
