Services were held Thursday, Sept. 8, at Zion Lutheran Church, Paullina, for Bertha Breitbarth, who passed away Sept. 5, at Primghar. Rev. Donald Johnson officiated. Pallbearers were Ron Mesner, Vernon Pauling, Jim Tesch, Clifford Beermann, Leonard Koch and Wally Tesch. The congregation sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus, ', "Nearer My God to Thee" accompanied by Mrs. Verla Hibbing on the organ. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ebel and Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Niebuhr were in charge of flowers.

Final resting place was [West] Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Bertha Breitbarth, the daughter of Christ and Anna Meyer Tesch, was born Jan. 30, 1900 at Germantown, Iowa. She attended schools in Germantown. On March 29, 1918 she was united in marriage to Herman Breitbarth in Pipestone, Minn. After their marriage the couple farmed in the Granville and later in the Germantown area.

Herman preceded her in death in 1968 in Hartley. Bertha continued to make her home on the farm until moving into Paullina in 1970.

She was employed at the Wide View Nursing Home in Paullina for a number of years before retiring in 1973. She continued to make her home in Paullina until entering the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar and passing away on Monday, Sept. 5, 1983, reaching the age of 83 years, 7 months and 5 days.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Paullina. She was also a member of the Paullina Senior Citizens group.

Bertha is survived by one son, Leonard of Paullina; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Holck of Rancho Cordova, Calif., and Mrs. Junior (Clarice) Gries of Primghar; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Albert Tesch of Hartley; also a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three grandsons, five sisters and one brother.
