Mrs. Dora Krueger

Mrs. Dora Krueger, 78, a long time resident of Hartley, Iowa, passed away at Lutheran hospital in Fort Dodge Friday afternoon. Mrs. Krueger, in ill health, for some time, was taken by ambulance to the hospital at 12:30 on Friday and death followed at 3:30 the same afternoon.

For the past two months, Mrs. Krueger had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Basil Pickinpaugh, at 350 S. 27th St.

Mrs. Krueger, the former Dora Mundt was born in Schleswig, Germany on September28, 1872. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Rymer [sic Reimer] Mundt. She came to Davenport, Iowa, with her parents in 1879. In 1885, the family moved to Round Lake, Minnesota, where she attended the public schools.

Her marriage to August Krueger took pace at Lake Park, Iowa, on June 18, 1892. The couple moved to Clay county where they farmed near Hartley until Mr. Krueger's death on June 4, 1935. Mrs. Krueger moved into Hartley the following year.

Surviving her are four daughters: Mrs. Frank (Minnie) Hauptly, Westly, Iowa; Mrs. Clarence (Dora) Madsen, Billings, Montana; Mrs. Elmer (Ida) Minster, Hartley, Iowa; Mrs. Basil (Ann) Pickinpaugh, Fort Dodge, Iowa; and two sons, Harry Krueger of Hartley and Paul Krueger of Fort Dodge. Three brothers: John Mundt, Ruthven, Minnesota; Charles Mundt of Modesto, California; Henry Mundt of Saint Paul, Minnesota; a twin sister, Mrs. Adolph Bestman of Schleswig, Germany, along with 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also survive.

Her husband, parents and a son, Edward Krueger, killed in action at Luxembourg during world War II, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Krueger was totally deaf for the last 53 years.

She was a baptized member of the Lutheran church. Her funeral was held at Saint Paul church, on Monday, June 16, with Rev. A.C. Weber officiating.

The pallbearers were Henry Meehlhause, Emil Lux, Fred Miller, Martie Westphal, Herman Hoffmeyer and Carl Wacker.
