Joachim Strampe, deceased, was born Nov. 26, 1835, In Lueder, Prov. Hannover. Germany. He was the youngest of eight children 48 years pf his life he spent In Germany In. 1861 he was united in wedlock with Dorothea Burmeister. This long and very happy union was blessed with four children, all of whom are well known and respected citizens of this community. They are Henry Strampe, Fred Strampe, Mrs. Hartwig (Sophia) Meyer and William Strampe.

In 1883 the deceased with his devoted wife and those of his children who had not come over to this country before came to America and located on a farm near Germantown, O'Brien County, la, where they retired from active farm work and moved to Paullina. The deceased enjoyed the very best of health, and up to a few years ago was able to perform more physical labor than many a man by 'twenty and more years his junior. It seemed, however, although all the sickness that he had missed during the long years of his life came at once when last October his health began to fall. From that time till yesterday he suffered most dreadfully, and it was almost Impossible for one to be with him for a long time, his most devoted wife, however, bore with almost superhuman endurance. At 5 o'clock on Wednesday morning all this suffering came to a blessed end. His death Is mourned by his widow, four children, thirty-one grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will .be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the home and at 2:30 at the. German Lutheran Church of which the deceased was a most active and interested member, Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery.
