Alvena Albert, daughter of Henry and Dora Ahrens was born January 11, 1885, at Sutherland, Iowa. After a lingering illness, she passed away at the Ruffin Nursing Home at Springfield, Missouri, on Monday, November 30, 1959. If she had lived until next January 11, 1960, she would have been 75 years old.

She grew up in the Sutherland neighborhood and attended school there.

In 1903, she was united in marriage to Herman Albert at Primghar, Iowa. Seven children were born to this union. They lived on a farm near Primghar until 1929 when they retired and moved to Hartley, Iowa.

After the death of her husband in 1943, she spent much time visiting in the homes of her children. In 1952, she went to a nursing home in Eldorado Springs, Missouri, near the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lois Plain. When her daughter moved away in 1957, she was transferred to the Ruffin Nursing Home at Springfield, Missouri, which was near the home of another daughter, Mrs. Rena Clark. Here she lived until her death.

The people who knew her will always remember her as a happy and jolly person with a friendly smile for everyone.

She leaves to mourn her death three sons and three daughters: Mrs. Rena Clark, Crane, Missouri; Alvin Albert, Scotland, South Dakota; Earl Albert, Milford, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Rigg, Sioux City, Iowa; Howard Albert, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Mrs. Lois Plain, Eldorado Springs, Missouri; a stepson, Irving Albert, Custer, South Dakota; a step-daughter, Agnes Mattice, Knoxville, Tennessee; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

Those who preceded her in death were her husband, Herman Albert; a stepson, Ralph, and a daughter, Mrs. Emma Wacker.

She was a member of the Hartley Methodist Church.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Hartley Methodist Church by the Reverend Raymond A Roloff. Interment was made in Pleasant View Cemetery.
