HANS KROGER
Hans Julius Friedrich Kroger, the son of Louis and Wiebke Stahl Kroger, was born in Husum, Germany March 2, 1902. He passed away at the Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital in Primghar, Iowa, November 26, 1971 at the age of 69.
He was reared and schooled in Germany and came to this country in 1927 to the Sutherland, Iowa area. He worked near Sutherland and Paullina and was united in marriage on January 3, 1931 to Otillia Laubauch at Sioux City, Iowa. The couple moved from Sutherland to a farm near Hartley in 1937 and a few years later made their permanent home on a farm south of Hartley. They retired in 1964. Mr. Kroger had been in ill health for some time. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty Lou, and two brothers, Hermann and Willie, and one sister, Anna.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, three daughters, June, Mrs. John Stamer of Marcus, Ruth, Mrs. Lloyd Newkirk of Hartley and Karen, Mrs. Kenneth Zinn of Lake Park; one son, Kenneth of Hartley, 14 grandchildren, one brother Peter of Schleswig - Holstein, Germany, and two sisters Lene, Mrs. Arthur Bohns of Husum, Germany and Mrs. Marie Ipsen of Yonkers, New York, other relatives and many friends.
Services were held Monday, November 29 from the Trinity United Church of Christ. Reverend Bernard Sayler officiated.
Honorary pallbearers were Karl Ruschmann, Hans Schmidt, William Pahl, Fred Will and Robert Preuss.
Pallbearers were Donald Laubach, John Elser, Harlan Laubach, Duane Laubach, Robert Elser and Glen Recher, Jr.
Burial was made in Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, Iowa. Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
