Services for Robert H. Appeldorn were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 1986, at the Bethel Lutheran Church of Sutherland, Iowa, with the Rev. Leroy Riemer officiating. The final resting place was [WEST] Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, Iowa.

The arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Robert Henry Appeldorn, the son of William and Luella Frerk Appeldorn, was born March 8, 1937, southwest of Paullina in Caledonia Township, O'Brien County, Iowa. He attended Paullina schools later attending Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City and Sheldon Vocational School in Sheldon where he received his high school diploma in 1969.

In 1964 he was united in marriage to Shirley Frank in Sutherland. After their marriage, they farmed southwest of Paullina for several years after which he moved into Paullina. Robert passed away on Monday, June 2, 1986, at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee reaching the age of 49 years, 2 months and 24 days.

Robert was baptized on June 17, 1937, by Rev. Gabler at his grandparents Henry and Bertha Frerk at Calumet. He was confirmed on March 18, 1951 at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church at Calumet and was a long time member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland.

Robert is survived by one son, Russell of Wichita, Kansas; his mother, Mrs. Luella Appeldorn of Paullina; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Rita) Engelke of Paullina; also a niece and nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded, in death by his father, William and one brother, Donald.
