Services Held for Wavie Jochums

Memorial services for Wavie Jochums, 86, were held at the United Methodist Church of Camarillo, California on Sunday afternoon, October 5, 1986. Mrs. Jochums died on September 29, 1986 after a brief illness. Interment will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley.

Wavie Johanna Jochums, the daughter of George and Martha Bauer, was born May 26, 1900 on a farm in Indian Lake Township, Nobles County, near Worthington, Minnesota. She graduated from high school in Sibley, Iowa, and after attending Iowa State teachers College for one year, taught in the Archer and Melvin areas for three years.

She married Lionel Jochums on March 28, 1923 in Sibley. They farmed near Melvin for ten years, and then near Hartley for sixteen years. They continued to live in or near Hartley following their retirement in 1949.

They had two sons, Robert and his wife Annie Laurie of Somis, California, and John and his wife, Merrie, of Camarillo, California. Lionel passed away in 1966. Mrs. Jochums moved to Camarillo, California, in 1972.

Surviving are her sons and their wives; a sister, Georga Saxon of Worthington, Minnesota; a brother-in-law, Stephen Jochums of Berkley, California; a brother-in-law, Richard Jochums and his wife, Rose Marie of Aumsville, Oregon; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
