John Bauer Jochums of Camarillo, California passed away Thursday, May 3, 2001, at the age of 74. John was born August 11, 1926 in Melvin, Iowa, to Lionel and Wavie Jochums. He attended country school until sixth grade, and then went to Hartley, Iowa schools until his high school graduation in 1945.

John and Merrie Lou Klever were married September 11, 1946 at the Methodist Church in Melvin. They were residents of Worthington, Minnesota until 1961 at which time they moved to Camarillo. John was an expert cabinet maker and general building contractor. He was always fully involved in support of boys' and girls' baseball and softball.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Merrie Lou Jochums of Camarillo; children: Linda (Dennis) Hunt of Park Rapids, Minnesota, Lane (Syndi) Jochums of Fruita, Colorado, Lori Jochums of Camarillo, and Leta (Mike) Tinker of Camarillo; brother Robert (Annie Laurie) Jochums of Camarillo; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at the United Methodist Church in Camarillo, California at 3 pm Sunday, May 6, 2001. Donations may be made to the Cmaraillo United Methodist Church at 291 Anacap Drive, Camarillo, California, 93010.

Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary of Camarillo assisted the family with the arrangements.
