Funeral services for Marvin Mews

Funeral services for Marvin Mews were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 1988, at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina, Iowa. Rev. Warren Coe officiated. The pallbearers were Gary Chapman, Tom Ryan, John Muston, Ralph Steinhauer, Phil Dunn and Warren Blaske. The final resting place is Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

OBITUARY

Marvin Mews, the son of August and Anna Hesse Mews, was born May 5, 1924, near Granville, Iowa. On July 6, 1924, he was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina and later confirmed on May 23, 1937. He received his education in Paullina area schools before graduating from Paullina High School in 1941. He then began farming with his parents east of Paullina.

In April of 1954, he was united in marriage to Bernadette Schwebach in Paullina. After their marriage, the couple fanned on the family farm. On November 23, 1970, he was united in marriage to Letha Everett in Sioux City, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple settled near Hornick, Iowa, where he was employed by various farmers as a farm hand.

Marvin passed away on Friday, May 27, 1988, at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, reaching the age of 64 years and 22 days.

Marvin leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Letha of Hornick; two daughters: Roxanne and husband, Dean Pottebaum of Paullina and Marveen and husband, Dan Sorensen of Oskaloosa, Iowa; three grandchildren, [redacted]; also three sisters: Mrs. Ivadell Niebuhr, Mrs. Stella Rehder and Mrs. Hertha Niebuhr, all of Paullina; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, parents and one sister.
