Mrs. John Groen

Mrs. John Groen, born Hilda Eeten, the daughter of Enno and Anna Waggonarr Eeten,[sic] on March 26, 1916, at Everly in Clay County, Iowa, passed away at her home near Hartley on September 13, 1967, at the age of 51 years, 5 months, and 17 days.

She attended the rural schools near her home in Clay County, and lived there until the time of her marriage.

She was married on December 9, 1936, to John Groen at Everly. They farmed in the Hartley area all of their married life. To them were born two children, Donald and Joan.

Hilda was baptized in infancy, confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1937 by Pastor A.C. Weber, and was a faithful member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church of Hartley. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid Society.

Preceding her in death were her father and one sister, Irene (in infancy).

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, John; her son and daughter in law: Mr. and Mrs. Donald Groen of Anoka, Minnesota; her daughter and son-in-law: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ostermann of Sheldon, Iowa; five grandchildren: [redacted]; her mother, Mrs. Anna Eeten of Fostoria, Iowa, Mrs. Clarence Heikens of Milford, Harry Eeten of Hartley, George Eeten of El Centro, California, Mrs. George Meyer of Denver, Colorado, Ernest Eeten of Corona, California, Mrs. Norman Kettnert of Malibou, California, Enno Eeten of Spencer, and Mrs. Carl Momsen of Omaha, Nebraska, besides many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Last rites were held September 16 at 2pm in Saint Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. A.O. Bleeke officiating.

Interment was made in Pleasant View Cemetery.
