Elizabeth Ann Richards Short was born in Hazel Green, Grant County, Wisconsin, March 3, 1885, and died May 10, 1916, at the home of her son Will, near Moneta, Iowa.

In 1874, she was united in marriage to C.W. Short. For fourteen years, Mrs Short lived with her husband near Benton, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Short is survived by her husband, one son, and six brothers. The brothers reside as follows: William of South Dakota, John of Rowan, Iowa, Edward of Alexander, Iowa, James and Thomas of Shelsbury, Wisconsin, and L.E. of Cuba, Wisconsin. One daughter, Mrs. Cooper, died six years ago. Besides the above mentioned, two grandchildren and a host of friends regret her departure.

Mrs. Short was a loving wife, a kind mother, and a good neighbor. She will be missed in her home. Her chair is vacant, the voice we loved to hear is hushed forever, but she will live in our memories.

Her health failed some months ago. Everything was done to restore her health; it was all of no avail. She was called to a better world, where suffering and pain are unknown. May her soul rest in peace.

The funeral was held Friday in Hartley at the Methodist church and was largely attended showing how highly she was esteemed.
