Minna (Stamer) Breitbarth (1859-1935)

MRS. THEO. BREITBARTH

Mrs. Minna Breitbarth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stamer, was born Nov. 29, 1859, In Prussia Germany and was there baptized soon after her birth. In her early childhood her parents emigrated to America, settling In Clayton County, Iowa. Here Mrs. Breitbarth was Instructed in the Lutheran doctrines by Pastor HInkers and confirmed April 13, 1873.

In the year 1875 the Stamer family came to O'Brien county Mr. Stamer acquired a parcel of the then unbroken prairie west of Granville, which he with his family turned into a flourishing farm. Here Mrs. Breitbarth grew to womanhood. When St. John's Ev. Luth. church In Germantown was organized, the Stamer family affiliated with it and Mrs. Breitbarth remained a faithful member throughout her life.

March 23, 1889, she was united in holy wedlock with Mr. Theo. Breitbarth to whom she proved a faithful helpmate. Together they labored on a farm west of Granville. In 1917 they retired and have since made their home in Germantown.

This union was blessed with six children, four sons and two daughters. The oldest son, William, died while in the service of his country in France. Oct. 7, 1918. The surviving children are Mrs. Matthilde Voss, of Paullina, Mrs. Emma Swensen, of Iona, Minn., Herman of Granville, Alfred of Aurelia, and Edward of Iona, Minn.

About two weeks before her death Mrs. Breitbarth was suddenly stricken in her home and confined to her bed. Hopes were entertained' for her recovery, but her appointed hour had come. She passed from time into eternity, Tuesday morning. August 6, having attained an age of 75 years, 9 months, and 23 days. She leaves to mourn her demise her sorrowing husband, three sons and two daughters, fifteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services were held In St. John's Ev. Luth. church In Germantown, Thursday afternoon. Interment was made in St. John's cemetery. Quite a number of relatives had come from a distance to attend the burial.
