ANOTHER PIONEER DIED LAST MONDAY NIGHT
Mrs. Rika Awe Passed Away Suddenly After Suffering A Severe Injury From a Fall

Mrs. Rika Awe, mother of Mrs. Chas. Kaye [sic Kay throughout], and one of the older settlers of O'Brien county, passed away suddenly on Monday. She had not been sick but had been subject to fainting spells and on Monday morning during one of these spells she fell, striking the back of her head. She was picked up unconscious and did not regain her faculties. She passed away that night.

Mrs. Awe was 71 years of age last March. She was born in Germany in 1844 and was married in the old country to Joseph Awe. In 1866 the couple came to this country and settled in Indiana. In 1844 they came to O'Brien O'Brien county, which has since been the family home. Mr. Awe died 22 years ago and since that time the wife made her home with her mother, until the latter passed away a couple of years ago. Following that Mrs. Awe took in her residence with her daughter, Mrs. Kaye. She was the mother also of Ed, Fred. Chris and John Awe. of Ft. Dodge, Paullina, California and Groton, S. D. respectively.

The funeral will be held this afternoon, at 1:30 at the house and at 2 o'clock at the church. Burial will be made in Prairie View cemetery.
